an outside roost bar for the old hens.
We almost have all the chickens situated!

So that’s what we’ve been doing this weekend.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  It’s been busy!  Eventually, Bo will add a gate from our property to the empty
property behind us so that we can ride horses and bikes back on the
reservation.  He’ll also add another
small animal pen in that area.  That’s
why the new horse fence; to make room.
Of course, his list of projects is longer that the white-board he’s
using to track them.  Poor guy!style="mso-spacerun: yes">  Our property just fell apart while we were
gone.  It feels as if we are starting
all over improving this property.  Oh
well, it will be great when we are done!

Unfortunately, this morning we woke up to a
pack of wild dogs in our yard.  They had
killed the 3 chicks in the isolation pen.
We were very disappointed but happy that they didn’t get into the
chicken coop and kill the remaining 38 chicks!
Also, our 2 old hens survived and they were roaming the yard.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  We were very lucky.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  So were the wild dogs; Bo couldn’t get a
good shot (houses and animals in the way) so they survived…this time.

Proud Daddy Time

Bo sent this email to his friends and thought I should post it here. So here it is:

The setting: Little league baseball field, The first all-star game for Benjaman’s team. Benjaman’s team is down 2-1 in the 3rd.

Benjaman steps up to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd then when the count was 2 balls 1 strike, he blasts a rocket over shortstop. Both runners score and Benjaman is on 2nd. The next batter walks to first. And the next hits a perfect dinger to right and Benjaman and one more score. The last batter stole home for a 5 run inning. Now we’re up by 4, the score is 6-2. That was a good inning.

In the bottom of the same inning, Benjaman is playing in right field. 2 outs and a runner on 1st. Batter hits a hopper down the first base line. 2 hops and the 1st baseman errors! Not to worry, because Benjaman was literally 3 steps behind him when he erred. The batter sees the error and turns the corner headed for 2nd. Benjaman, in one smooth motion scoops the ball and with zero hesitation fires it to 2nd with a perfect throw and shoots down the runner!

Then, just when we thought we had it locked, a long painful series of bad pitching and infield errors ended the game is a loss of 9-6.

Benjaman’s game however was perfect, 2 hits, 2 RBI, 1 score and 1 fantastic defensive play.

I was practically climbing the backstop cheering that boy . . . . I gotta stop now, I’m tearing up, can’t see to write!
